The Banque de France and the FERDI (Foundation for Studies and Research on International Development), in association with AFD (French Development agency), organize an international Conference on:
“Foreign exchange policy and sustainable development in low–income countries“
The conference objective is to identify the best exchange rate policies for low-income countries' development strategies, in particular regarding to existing or projected monetary unions. The diversity of the speakers, from Africa and beyond, academics or practitioners will offer a wide range of experience. The conference will highlight stakes of foreign exchange policy and sustainable development in low-income countries :
economic growth in high-population-growth countries;
income distribution, in particular, poverty trends;
climate change which justifies moderation and adaptation efforts and, more generally, the conservation of the environment.
